How much electricity does an AC use? Understanding the bill
BTU capacity alone cannot tell you an AC’s monthly electricity use. You need operating time and electrical input. Consider usage, room conditions and maintenance when assessing the bill.

BTU capacity and electrical input
BTU/h describes heating or cooling capacity. Electrical input is expressed in watts or kilowatts. Treating the capacity as electrical input gives a misleading calculation. An inverter unit’s input can vary during operation, so a label rating is not a measurement of every hour.
A simple energy calculation
If average electrical input were 1 kW for 5 hours, consumption would be 5 kWh. This is a calculation example, not a measurement or promise for your AC. The cost depends on your applicable tariff and taxes. A fixed daily cost does not apply to every home.
What makes a fair comparison?
When comparing bills, record the billing days, AC operating hours and use of other electrical appliances. Longer operation at the same setting is also worth noting. Do not fit a measuring device to a hardwired AC circuit yourself; discuss a suitable method with an electrical professional.
Reduce the room’s cooling demand
Avoid leaving doors and windows unnecessarily open during cooling. Shade sunlit glazing where practical and keep curtains or furniture out of the indoor airflow. Two equally sized rooms in Fethiye can have different sun exposure and insulation, so their energy use need not match.
When is maintenance worth checking?
Clean a dirty filter as permitted by the manual. If airflow is weak or cooling has deteriorated, discuss maintenance and diagnosis. There is no universal savings percentage after servicing; the condition and usage need to be understood first.
