AC keeps starting and stopping: When is it a problem?
Operation can change when the room reaches the target temperature. Repeated stopping while the room remains uncomfortable is a different symptom. First identify what stops: indoor airflow, the outdoor unit or the whole system.

Check the timer and operating mode
Check timer and sleep settings in the manual. Distinguish a heating defrost pause from an interruption during cooling. A photo of the visible settings makes it easier to explain which features are active. Avoid repeatedly changing modes just to test the unit.
Record the timing without diagnosing it
Record roughly how long it runs and pauses. There is no universal normal cycle length for every AC. Room conditions, capacity and control systems differ. A new change in behaviour and the accompanying loss of comfort are useful details for diagnosis.
Are the filter and airflow paths clear?
Dirty filters and blocked airflow are among the things to check. Do not dismantle internal parts beyond the permitted filter procedure. Controls, refrigerant and electrical faults can also be involved. The symptom alone does not identify a part to replace.
Record an error code before clearing it
Record any code or flashing light when the unit stops. Do not repeatedly interrupt the power to force it to run. Share the model, mode and frequency of interruptions. If the breaker also trips, stop resetting it and seek technical help.
