BEFORE YOUR VISIT
AC making noise: When should you call a technician?
When your AC sounds different, note where the noise comes from and when it starts. Airflow from the indoor unit, vibration outside and a new scraping noise need different assessments.

Describe where the sound comes from
Does the sound come from the indoor unit or the outdoor unit on the balcony? Does it occur only at startup or continue during operation? These details are more useful than saying the unit is noisy. Listen from a safe position without leaning out to reach it.
Brief clicks and persistent knocking
Temperature changes can cause brief expansion sounds, and refrigerant flow may also be audible. New, worsening or persistent knocking and scraping should be checked. A recording alone cannot identify a failed part with certainty.
Which observations help?
Note whether changing the fan speed with the remote changes the noise. If a cover is visibly open, stop the unit and follow only the closing procedure in the user manual. Keep hands and objects out of the fan, and do not reach out to tighten outdoor-unit fasteners.
How can a short video help?
A few seconds recorded from a safe distance without talking can help. Also state the operating mode. Keep faces, documents and private living areas out of the recording. Do not restart a unit with severe scraping just to make a video.
